J. Dilla: Rebirth of Detroit

It has been over 6 years ago that J.Dilla/James Yancey died. Many see him as the greatest producer ever. His close friend, drummer Questlove from The Roots, knows why:

” Because I like his kick patches better than anyone; I love his snare patches better than anyone; I love his sample chops better than anyone; I like his ability to flip samples better than anyone; I like his engineering better than anyone; I love his chord structure better than anyone; I love his bass tones better than anyone.”

For the people that never heard about him or if we have to fresh up your memory. Check out this set containing 2 hours of his finest beats.

There is great news for the people that love this guy as much as we do. Dilla may be passed away, his beats are still alive and kicking. There is actually a new album with beats that hasn’t been released yet. Names like Esham, Chuck Inglish and Dilla’s younger brother Illa J are contributing to this album.
